I just gave my gmat today and got 710:48Q, 39V(verbal has always been my weaker area), and am really happy, surprised and relieved. I only had 4 week's time to prepare and didnt expect to cross 700 as I got 680 and 690 in the 2 GMATPrep sample tests and 650 on one of the Princeton Review tests(which in my opinion is a bit too easy on the quant part), and expected the actual gmat to be a bit harder. The only books I could afford to purchase were Princeton Review and Barron's(being a student with limited finance) and I didn't find both the books to be of much help, but the beat the gmat resources were of huge help to me especially the 500 practice data sufficiency questions. The sample awa essays were also of tremendous help, I went through some sample essays just 2 hours before the exam and to my luck one of the same topics came. In the end its just your attitude and the way you approach the problems on the test day. My advice on the test day is to take the 10 minute break after the first 2 sections to clear your mind and be focused.
So thats my gmat story lol
