GMAT Score:690
I took my GMAT today and scored 690 (quant-50, verbal-33)
I made the deadliest mistake of overinvesting in 2 questions of verbal as a result of which I was left with 15 minutes and 16 questions. It was all messed up in the end.
I am 43 years old with an experience of 21 years in Public sector Bank.
I have had diverse responsibilty such as Branch head assignments, responsible for setting up of RTGS in my bank, excellent inter personnel skills, good exposure of sanction and follow up, record exposure of retails and dealing with customers and very strong on IT - website development and software development. I have ben invited in the past by principals to lecture on computers to enthuse children and by local clubs on hobby classes. At present, I am working in the Research department of a leading Public sector bank and besides the fact that most of my research recommendations are implemented in policy making of the bank, I am into various team building activities, such as looking after event management of entire office, right from scheduling calendar to liasioning with top management and coordinating various cultural and academic events.
I was out of the Bank for two years (that was 11 years back when I wanted to carve a career of my own liking and I was into singing, acting, scriptwriting, children audio album etc.) It all came to a full stop when I came back to the bank 9 years ago, because of lack of funds to sustain along with my family, and because my Management was keen on having me back.
I am strong in Music, computers, Photography and painting and I have done active theatre for 7 years.

What are my chances of getting admission in ISB.

If I do not get admission to ISB this year, I will try again next year.
Will it benefit me then to go for another try at GMAT.
Please guide.

Q50 will defintely help you...

43 years old with an experience of "21 years in Public sector Bank"...this can work for you/ against you.. depends on how you write your optional essay...

My friend was 45 yrs old, scored 610 in the GMAT; he had been an entrepreneur for 15 yrs.. During the interview, they told him that finding a job to match his profile/ecpectations will be difficult (for the career services)...ISB eventually rejected him ...Again, essays and interviews will be crucial... You have a great chance...

All the best!!!

My dear friends and wellwishers,
I am truly indebted to you for the encouragement you have given to me. It is wonderful, you have given me a high. I will keep you posted of the developments. I will share another thing with you. Life has taught me a lesson, "you get you what you bargain for" and the funny thing is that "you do get it".
Let us pray for everyone's success.
All the best to all

Sorry, even though you didnot asked my advice directly, I got tempted to tell you that if you can buy GMATClub's test (79$) online, it will surely help you. I am constantly scoring 49 in Q in different test papers.

Wow. It sounds like you have a tremendous background and, like others have said, should be able to get in if you put together strong essays and interview well.

But what's going on here? I took the GMAT about a week after you, scored a 49Q and 38V, yet we both ended up with 690. That makes NO sense to me.

I got an admission call

Thank you all for the support. And sorry I was too busy with the office responsibilities.
I am happy that I have my interview scheduled on 10th January.

The issue is that I am keeping so busy with the official works that I am unable to prepare for the interview.

And I can not afford to lose my sleeps now before interview, I have to be there in my bests, so no more sleepless nights. I have enjoyed every interview till now, in true sense, enjoyed talking, telling and converstaing.
So I am looking forward to the conversation.
Thanks again. I will post next if I get selected.
