620: Should i give the GMAT again

by harsh21mehta » Fri May 18, 2012 12:41 pm
Hi,

I gave my GMAT (2nd attempt) today and scored 620 Q- 47 V-28. In my first attempt i scored a 600 Q-44, V 29. I feel that i messed up my Verbal section due to anxiety/nerves

I am confused whether I should retake the GMAT. This time, however i would have to take the GMAT(including IR) as all seats till June 5, 2012 have been booked already. If i do take it again, I would like to attempt the test before August 15, 2012.I have about 3 years(post qualifiication) of work experience with a well known MNC (consulting).

Please advice if it is worth giving it one more shot. I would ideally like to apply for the courses starting in Fall 2013

It really depends on what schools you're targeting - if 620 is competitive, or at least in the mid 80% range, then you may not need to take it again.

If you're trying to go to a top 20 school, it's going to be an uphill climb. Just be sure if you do take it again, you effectively prepare, especially for the verbal section. Otherwise, it'll just be more wasted time/money.
