I just recently took the GMAT and got a 730. Pretty happy with the score. All together studied for about 40 hours. I used the official GMAT study book and the Princeton review and just worked through the problems. I found just doing a ton of problems was the most effective study method. The math is essentially middle school/ early high school level math, so i had forgotten some of tricks and shortcuts to solve the questions quickly. Too often i was setting up complex time wasting equations, when you could simply plug and chug or substitute answers in to solve the problem.
For the verbal, i found just doing a ton of the problems also worked well. I put a little extra time into the sentence correction, because i seemed to miss more of those on the practice questions.
Also make sure you take the free practice tests, gives you a pretty good idea of how you will you do, also the timing feature is nice.
My advice is just to do tons of problems, identify your weaknesses, and do additional problems in those areas.

Good Luck.

Wow. 730 with only 40 hours of prep must be some kind of record. You're a natural. Good luck with the rest of the process.
