Ive been studying for 3 solid months for the GMAT and anticipating my exam day for 8 weeks. I felt adequately prepared going into the final weeks of my prep. I was at work Thursday and got a call around 330 PM that my apartment had been broken into and everything I own was gone! This was basically the worst timing for something like this. My biggest concern was the loss of my macbook, which had all my study materials and notes on it. I spent all day Thursday with the police, and then stayed in a hotel Thursday and Friday night. I was dealing with the insurance stuff all day friday, while trying to find a new place to live. The last thing on my mind was the GMAT exam I was scheduled to take the following morning. Luckily I slept well on Friday night in the hotel and still took the exam on Saturday morning. I had some difficulty focusing on the exam, and thoughts of my living situation kept creeping into my mind. I dont blame my performance on the situation, and I am not even disappointed with a 650. I actually felt relatively confident during the exam. Hopefully it will be enough to get me into UNC Chapel Hill, Emory, or Wake Forest. Ive decided to keep this score, and focus on my application as much as possible.

I want to thank Beatthegmat.com for all the excellent resources, without the site, I probably would have scored much lower considering the circumstances. Good luck to everyone else trying to beat the gmat, and remember MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RENTERS INSURANCE AND A SECURITY SYSTEM haha.
