Dear karenmeow,

Sometimes. It depends on the school and the applicant pool. Part-time programs in large metropolitan areas will generally have statistics mirroring a full-time program and can be as competitive. Part-time programs in smaller cities or with a smaller applicant pool will usually not have the same level of competition. For part-time programs, your professional work experience is important as these programs are generally designed for candidates staying on (or close to) their current career path. They also trend upwards on years of work experience, so having career progression and demonstrated leadership potential is key. Solid, successful work experience can make up for a lower GMAT/GPA.

Best of luck,
Lisa
