First and foremost I want to thank everyone that contributes to this website. I could not have got the score I did without these vital resources.
I just took the GMAT and scored a 700. I expected a slightly better score, but 700 is good enough, I am enjoying having a life again. I cannot stress enough to pay attention to timing on test day. In the Quantitative, I was obsessed with not missing a question, and the realized that I had 10min to finish the 10 remaining questions. I took time to answer 5 of them, but last 5 were nothing but educated guesses after skimming the problem. I had the very same problem with the Verbal. I know that first questions are more important, but don’t end up completely guessing on the last 5 of each section like I did. I wonder what my score could have been without 10 guesses.
Preparing for the GMAT I used OG 11, Kaplan Advanced review, and of course the free GMAT software from mba.com. That’s it; I don’t think I needed anything else. I studied for approximately one month prior to the GMAT. At least 3 hours a day, and two to three times a week, I would put in an 8 hour day of studying. I completed the OG, but I made sure that I completed it understanding the reasoning or logic behind every question. I think doing 100s of questions is practically worthless if you don’t demand to understand why you got certain ones wrong. That is how I prepared.
If I had to do it again, I would study for at least 2 months. I did not have adequate time to prepare even with my excess time to study. There is just far too much to cover in 1 month. I definitely would pay more attention to my timing as well. But overall, I am happy with the score.
