Profile Evaluation Please -Stacy

by vignesh_unl » Wed Sep 24, 2008 10:49 pm
Hi l,

Could you please evaluate my profile.

Education:-
I am an Indian male with Masters in Electrical Engineering from University of Nebraska Lincoln. My Masters GPA is 3.9 and undergrad, which I did from JNTU India, is 75%. Though my undergrad GPA relates to "Distinction" as per JNTU standards I am not sure how the Universities will treat here.

Work Experience:-
I have been working as an Sr.Applications Engineer for past 4 years in a Semiconductor Company in US. The job involves working as a liaison between Marketing/Sales and R&D team. I have to provide application support to key customers, work closely with the factory to define customer requirements and manage long term projects at multiple sites. I do have to manage, communicate, and interface effectively with the customer. Additionally, as my company HQ is in Japan, I am one of the main interfaces between customers in US & Europe & my team in Japan.

GMAT Score:-
700 ( V35;M-49)

Extracurricular Activities:-
I am working with a non profit organization, which works with grass root NGOs in India to impart education to the underprivileged. I am stewarding a project, which main responsibility to run single teacher schools in 10 tribal villages at one of the most remote places in India. Apart from these I did actively participate in debates, quiz competitions, dramas, soccer, throughout my school and undergrad days ( have tons of certificates as evidence). I was also "Secretary" of ISA( Indian Student Organization) -UNL chapter during my Masters. I was actively involved in organizing cultural shows as a part of leading the ISA-UNL chapter.

Recommendation Letters :- Confident of getting good recommendation letters from my company's CEO to whom I report directly

Aspirations:-
Could you please advise on what schools could I try realistically for MBA admission. I would like to apply to HAAS and Stanford(if i have a slightest possibility for admit).

Thanks
Vignesh

Dear V,

I think you should apply to the schools that make the most sense for your career goals AND that have the right cultural fit for you. You have the foundation to be competitive in the applicant pool of any school. But like any applicant, it is how well you put your application together that will get you the offer of admission.

Best of luck,
Lisa
