Beaten - 580

by TameGemat » Thu Mar 05, 2009 1:36 am
I took the gmat last saturday and scored a dismal 580(Q47,V23). Frankly my 4 monthds preparation was 20% quant and 80% verbal. I want to apply for "partitme" MBA in the best schools of los angeles. Will this score be enough or should I retake? I have 10 years experience, but I am male Indian IT professioal. However, my aplication may be above average with good work and community experience. Need sincere advice and recommendation. Is there a cutoff for verbal in buisness schools?

Also, does anybody know or can guess whether more/fewer applications were submitted/acepted this year.

I am also in the same boat. Please do let me know if you get any useful info about admissions.
Thanks.

If its possible you should retake the test and go for 600+. My previous score was the same as Poonam and I thought of applying to MBA schools with that score too, but consulting with the admission committee of the schools that I wanted to apply (where avg was 660) I got the impression that it would be very very difficult to get admission. Ofcourse they will never tell you and always say that GMAT is just one component. But with stiff competetion nowadays, your chances of admission are bleak. I have 10 years exp. too in Embedded s/w and have a masters degree.

So I would strongly suggest you to retake the GMAT.
