I didn't get the answer, my here's my stab at it:

Lets chose a nice number which we can use... 12 looks nice, since its the LCM of 3 and 4. So, let there be 12 cookies

> 2/3 of all the cookies were placed in either blue or the green tin
8 cookies went in either blue or green

> the rest were placed in red tin
4 cookies went in the red tin

> 1/4 of all the cookies were placed in the blue tin
3 cookies went in blue
4 cookies went in red
5 cookies thus went in green

> what fraction of the cookies* that were placed in the other tins were placed in the green tin?
Total cookies in other tins = 7
Total cookies in green tin = 5

But... this should give an answer of 5/7, which I don't see... help! :(

Why is green included at all in the denominator is what I'm curious to know :)

> what fraction of the cookies* that were placed in the other tins were placed in the green tin?

Surely this means green/(red + blue), red and blue being the "other" tins compared to green.

Maybe this question should be in the verbal section instead :)

Because of the wordings in the question see the bold part:

A batch of cookies was divided among 3 tins, 2/3 of all the cookies were placed in either blue or the green tin, the rest were placed in red tin. If 1/4 of all the cookies were placed in the blue tin, what fraction of the cookies that were placed in the other tins were placed in the green tin?

Total Blue, Red and Green.

1/4 to the Blue, Other Red and Green. So, find the fraction Green to Other (Red + Green)

Thank god 5/7 is not there in the option ;)
If the problem is Easy Respect it, if the problem is tough Attack it
