HI! I hope someone can read this topic and answer me.
I have been studying the GMAT for more than 3 months and a half now. 2 days ago, I took my GMAT exam and I very sadly got a shocking 550 score. After all the studying that I did, I really thought I would at least get a decent score. During the exam, specially in the math section, I was so relaxed and happy, I imagined I would surely surpass the 85th percentile.
Now that I think about it, I should have seen it coming, I got very average scores on all the pre-exams that I did, whether MGMAT or GMAT Prep-exams (more than 13 exams and all were less than 620).
I used to be one of the best math students in school and I am finding it hard to cope with the fact, I did so bad, on both Math and Verbal.

But, I just decided to take on the challenge, which is seriously just starting to get interesting for me. I decided to take on the GMAT in 30 days. I am very motivated to do it and this time I will make sure to surpass even my most optimist expectations. I will start visiting this blog on a daily basis to learn from the great achievements that have already taken place.
Am I trying to achieve the impossible? Should I focus on re-doing it in 60 days instead?
The thing is that I understand now where I went wrong and I don't think it was technical. I believe my attitude was wrong and that I wasn't focused enough or thinking out of the box! I was too timid in my perception of the exam. Now it will be different.
Please share with me your thoughts
Thanks

Hi there. I can feel your disappointment through the message and I just wanted to share my little piece of advice with you. I am currently studying for the GMAT (scheduled it for December)and just like you I would have about 3 months and a half of studying by exam time. Preparing for the exam is a lot of hard work and I really hope that your next try is going to take you where you want to go.

So here goes: I really suggest you to watch the 'Thursdays with Ron' videos on Manhattan GMAT's website if you haven't done so already. https://www.manhattangmat.com/thursdays-with-ron.cfm

I have watched every single video on there for the Quant section and now I am moving onto Verbal. What you will learn from the videos is HOW TO THINK about the Quant questions because ultimately, the math skills tested are really basic. The way GMAT confuses you with their wordy problems is what will get you. I didn't even know that changing my thinking was the lacking ingredient until I started watching Ron's tutorials. Each video is one hour and a half, which given a person's busy schedule, could take up a chunk of your time.. but it's worth it! I wake up every morning at 6.20 to give myself time to watch 1 video and take notes. Then in the afternoons/evenings I practice with actual problems. I believe that you can do it! You can get to the 7XX mark if you change your study plan accordingly and study hard everyday. I have to believe that you can because I am in the same boat as you are :)

Good luck with studying this time. And really create a disciplined and efficient study plan for this whole 30 days. There are lots of good articles on that subject in the forums and on the MGMAT website (which I have come to rely on for good information).

I don't think it's impossible at all. Just make sure you create and really stick with a study plan. And don't forget to review questions you get wrong. That's something that has been very hard for me to do but has improved my success. Best of luck!! :)

Maybe studying hard is not enough. Try these GMAT flashcard decks. https://www.superflashcard.com/#!category=421555
If you have a smart device, download their mobile app and spend at least 1 hour everyday with it, whenever you have free time, take out your mobile device and study.
I'm sure you result will be improved.
