Taking the GRE after taking the GMAT

by timtim » Wed Dec 25, 2013 8:10 am
Hi,

I took the GMAT a few days ago and scored very low (520), with a very low quant score. In my last simulation (GMATprep 4), I scored 700.
Needless to say I am abit discouraged by this result. I thought it might be a better idea to take GRE instead. I would like to use the score to apply to a top10 business school. I have no quantitative experience, but my profile is excellent otherwise.
I already submitted the GMAT score to the business schools I would like to apply to. My question is, if I do the GRE next instead of the GMAT, and get a good socre, would that hurt my chances?

Thanks,
timtim

Hi timtim,

Thanks for your post. In regards to your exam and your practice scores, I would recommend retaking your GMAT exam. It's important to remember that your highest GMAT score is self-reported on your application, so admissions teams will focus on your best score. There is no harm in taking the exam again.

I hope the above is of help.
