Hi I have a real problem with time management....I've taken many CATs and I cant never finish on time....I even had to guess 12 questions the last time, both in quant and verbal! So my score cant improve and what is worse it is lower than before. In my last CAT I got 580 which is the lowest Ive ever had but before that I got a 650 so I really need some advice here please. What can I do with my poor time management and also how can I see real improvements over time, I feel that my study is going nowhere and sometimes I wanna quit
My goal is 700

Thanks!

The GMAT is both a test of your math and verbal skills AND a test of your test-taking skills (which include time management and anxiety management skills).

If you're interested, we have a free video on the topic of time management: https://www.gmatprepnow.com/module/gener ... es?id=1244

I understand your frustration.

Use timing benchmarks and "religiously" follow them: For Quant use 8-15-22-29 and Verbal 9-17-25-33. If you fall behind these benchmarks, it will cost you a hefty price at the end of the official test. Tell yourself that as long as you can't stay on those benchmarks, you have room for growth to become more efficient (and likely more accurate) in your problem-solving. Tweaking timing to favor some problems at the expense of others is not going to work out on the GMAT.

I strongly encourage you to adopt this mindset:

- consider the timing milestones as a FIXED structure to follow no matter what!
- consider your ability to perform along those fixed benchmarks as a VARIABLE parameter that you can improve on through better mastery of the content, better processing and organization skills on scratch paper, and increased recognition skills through smart practice of official problems

Keep up and never lose hope!

Hi thanks to both of you! Your answers were really helpful and yesterday I scored a 700 in the GMAT prep Test...I ran out of time in Quant in the last 3 questions but I finally started to see an improvement. i am planning on taking the official exam in 2 weeks! Hope everything will turn out fine
Thanks!
