I wouldn't say that my score ain't a biggy, beacause for me IT IS! :D Studying for the GMAT for about 2.5 months has been a grueling experience. Not to mention the emotional ups and downs during the last two weeks. But they say, all's well that ends well! And so did in my case.

I was only expecting a 500, given the scores of my practice CATs:

GMATPrep-1 (Baseline): Q-19 V-23 390
GMATPrep-1 (Retake after a month): Q-29 V-27 480
Kaplan GMAT(Dont have the breakdown): 530
Veritas: Q-36 V-22 520
Manhattan GMAT: Q-33 V-31 530
Princeton Review Q-35 V-30 550
GMATPrep-2 (Two days before the test) Q-32 V-23 470

Real GMAT: 590 (Q-41 V-31)


I'm very happy because this is precisely what I needed. Many thanks to BTG, and my favorite experts including Ron, Stacey, Brent and Mitch! You guys are just amazing! :wink:

Did I beat the GMAT?! Hell yeah!! 'cause its the score that'll get me in! :mrgreen:

Hi Elena,

Congrats and 590 is a good score.

My target score is 550 and I still cant get it. I took a few prep tests but still I am stuck between 360-400. Can you please tell me how many hrs did you study per day and what materials you used?

First of all, from my own experience, let me suggest you to not completely trust the mock test scores. Although, they do give you a good indication of your current capability, they're not the real exam! I, for instance, was very dejected when just a couple of days prior to the big day I scored only 470 on the GMATPrep. I almost had a nervous breakdown. However, not losing my optimism and knowing that I had prepared IT ALL translated into the score I wanted -- a 120 point increase! So my point is to NEVER lose faith in yourself! Say out loud 'I can do it!', and you will!

Secondly, I followed BTG's 60-Day GMAT Prep Guide. This guide's Quant part is just great! I strictly followed it. Materials I used include;

- OG-12 (practiced all Quant and CR problems only, however one should practice everything included in the book)
- Aristotle SC Grail (Used only this for SC prep, although I've heard a lot about Manhattan SC, but only felt comfortable using Aristotle)
- Manhattan Quant Guides 4th Edition (These are a MUST-HAVE! 60-Day Guide uses these for Quant)

Finally, I used to put in a maximum of 4 hours daily, since that was the most I could learn effectively on a single day.

Again, since your target score is pretty achievable, I'd stress on the importance of having faith in yourself and in God Almighty, everything will come your way naturally! =)
