Hey guys.. I am a S/W Professional.. Took my GMAT months back.. Jus wanted to share with you guys..

How I did IT -

Books I used - GMAT official guide, and 4GMAT material..

Test Prep CDs used - GMAT Prep (best of all, closest replica of real GMAT), KAPLAN (worst one.. doesn't reflect the real GMAT).. Priceton (quite easy one.)

Quants - Real hard practice.. Work time was 2PM to 10PM.. I come back from office and work out from night 11PM to morning 5AM.. I worked out almost every problem in the books I had... I am quite good at Mathematics/Quants so I didnt have a very tough time.. It was a joy working out challenging problems.. At 5AM i ll feel like I cant go ahead anymore and i dose off with my books around.. Got 49/51.. Expected 50 or 51.. I always got 50/51 in my prep tests.. Dont know where I went wrong..

Verbal - I am not a master in this.. Mere 'strategy' helped me.. RC was tough for me.. and it is tough to be so confident about RC.. So I decided to concentrate on SC because it had few patterns which repeated and GMAT tests you only on those.. So my key to verbal was SC.. worked out more than 1500 questions in SC.. This made me really confident.. was performing normally in CR too.. Just as I said, I wasnt a master in Verbal.. Got a 38/51 only.. But still managed to cross the magical 700 because of my quants score..

Strategy - I started my prep way back before my exam date.. But till the last three months I was nowhere close.. The last three months was when the real change happened.. I put a complete time table to cover all the topics.. I did real hard work.. I met my GMAT prep centre and asked them for the classes I missed (I missed them just because of laziness :P.. But by now, I got serious.. and I felt I really needed them) Daily minimum 5 hrs to 8 hrs on weekdays.. a max of 10 - 12 hrs too - on weekends.. Never worry if you are not upto the mark.. I swear mere practise can take you to heights.. Take up a course with some good centre in your place.. if you feel you need one..

I live in Toronto (downtown) now.. Tot I could make my weekends useful by helping some students out there.. Lemme know if anyone needs help.. And now dont be surprised.. Am not charging anythin.. It s FREE.. Jus as a help and also to keep my brain active.. :P

Only weekends.. Downtown ONLY.. Good luck!

That's good and motivating.

What was the source of practise you used ? And the exact strategy which helped youout to be confident in SC.
