Are some targets impossible no matter how much you try?

Hello. I came across some experts (like Ron, etc.) in this forum who were telling others that their target scores are near to impossible. Of course the experts/replyers considered background of help seekers, but how is it possible that achievement of any score becomes impossible? Does ones achievement have anything to do with natural intelligence? I am worried because my hopes are for 700+ with only 560 now. I mean if one scores say 380, why he cant score 700+ if he tries?

I can say from personal experience that Ron is absolutely right. One has to be realistic in setting goals and also needs to take into account his background . This ,however, in no way implies that you cannot improve in a short period of time ;you can but for that your fundamentals,intelligence level and background have to really strong. He correctly talks about a "threshold" level. If you're threshold level is that of a 400 scorer, even if you try very hard, you will reach a 600, but if your threshold level is already of 600 ,it's not very difficult to cross 700. I am again in no way saying that people with a 500 don't get a 700 or for that matter a 750 in a short span of 3-4 months, they do,but these are usually the exceptions,not the norm.

A person with a 380 can definitely achieve a 700+,but you need a different strategy for that which as Ron has also said takes time and patience.
