Hi,

my answer was C) but the correct answer is actually B). Can anyone help?

Cottages at a resort are rented for half the summer price in each of the 3 spring months and one-third the summer price in each of the 6 fall and winter months. If each cottage brings in a total of $3,861 when rented for each of the 12 months of the year, what is the monthly rent for each of the 3 summer months?
(A) $297
(B) $594
(C) $702
(D) $858
(E) $1,782

Let x be the price for each of the summer months. The 12 month
price is

3x + 3(x/2) + 3(x/3) + 3(x/3) = 3861

Solving for x we get $594

Let summer price for each month be x
Thus price for each of the spring months = x/2
Price for each of the 6 fall and winter months = x/3

3861 = 3x + 3x/2 + 2x
3861 = (6x + 3x + 4x)/2
7722 = 13x
Therfore x = 7722/13 = 594
