(C) so rapidly the population divided in half
(D) so rapidly that the population was halved
(E) in such rapidity that the population is halved

why not
C?
Thanks.

Is there a scientific way :-) to find out whether a phrase/word is wordy or not ? I have seen many OG questions where they prefer the longest answer.....

Please help me understand how to master the art of eliminating a choice based on wordiness :-)
