I have committed a grammatical mistake in one of the applications. Also used 2 words in capital to highlight. Does these things matter or an overall quality of app/ story matters. Do schools understand there can be few errors which can be overlooked or do they scrutiny every detail minutely and penalize people.

How do schools take the grammatical mistakes from the recommenders. Are 2-3 such mistakes okay/ overlooked by schools in a 2000 word document

Different readers may interpret grammatical mistakes in a different way. But having grammatical mistakes in essays may indicate that the applicant has not put enough attention to the essay, in terms of proof-reading it or reviewing it multiple times. When we have all the editors such as MS word and Open Office available, then such mistakes should not occur. So do take extreme care in future applications.

It also depends WHICH grammatical mistakes. If it's smaller syntactical or grammatical issues that leave the essay "sounding good" it can be entirely negligible.
