GMAT Score:730

by 007.r.mason » Wed Oct 06, 2010 12:09 pm
btw, 750 is still not a decent score for chinese students. most chinese applicants scored at least 760.
so, it's not strange that i can score 710 2yrs ago without knowing how to speak english.
Hi Tina,

Your review is is giving a complex to me and people on the forum. If each of 26,000 Chinese who give the GMAT every year score more than 700 in the GMAT then we will probably have to rethink and apply to schools in Africa/South America/University of Phoenix/Kaplan University.

However, I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same exam; i.e. GMAT and not the GRE. Just for you I will reveal this closely kept secret... (GMAC forgive me)

1. GMAT it taken by approx. 260K people around the world out of which only 2600 score 760 or above (top 1 percentile)
2. Approx. 26K students take the GMAT from China.. https://www.dreducation.com/2009/12/gmat ... -gmat.html
3. Of those who score above 760, probably half are from India and US, which leaves only 1300 or so spots for China to claim. Now 1300/26,000 = 5% is not considered "most" by any GMAT standards.

The GRE on the other hand is out of 1600 and and your statement is completely accurate..

hey mason,

thanks for your data and explanation.
but as i mentioned:
1. chinese applicants, not all chinese test-takers;
2. most refers to this percentage (=# of chinese applicants who scored at least 760/# of all chinese applicants), not the percentage you stated (= # of chinese applicants who scored at least 760/ # of all chinese test-takers).
anyway, i omitted one information, chinese applicants i mentioned are those who applied top 10 MBA programs.

btw, gmat is a bar, a tiny portion of whole application. so even most chinese applicants scored so high, you still don't need to worry about that, because they are not your competitors. they are my peers, but it doesn't matter because i already jumped over that bar.

thanks :)

damn.. thats where I lost in CR.. otherwise I would have gotten a 760 as well!!

you are planning to write more .................

disclaimer:A light hearted banter.....
Life is all about ass; you're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one.

I am sure a lot of people would actually prefer Ron to have less exposure.
Yep.

I'm sure you also scored a 6.0 on the essay without comprehending English. I got a 39 on my verbal and I am a native speaker. I'm not exactly sure how you can score a 39 with 4 months of English under your belt. Whatever.

You are not alone.. join the club! That's what most people who read this post are wondering :)
Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

to Mr. selango,
you misunderstood again and again...and got totally wrong main idea every time!

i don't think ron needs me to write something to get more exposure.
main idea: ron doesn't need
not "write something".

btw, what i did just was what I did. okay?

i'm also wondering why we waste time here. why not find some interesting thing to do?
so, last time to reply your post.

thanks for your time and all posts.
