x^2+1/x^2 = 9 +p/q

1/x^2 is always less than 1 if x is an integer other than 0 and 1

For x^2+1/x^2 to be 9 + a fraction less than 1

the only integer value x possible is -3 and +3

for both +3 and -3

x^2+1/x^2 = 9+1/9

Hence option 3
