46) How many m^2

by ern5231 » Wed May 12, 2010 12:36 am
Given that 100cm = 1m. How many m^2 would equal 200 cm ^ 2?

I picked this question from an online question bank. Unfortunaltely, it does not options to it.

The simple unitary method taught in junior classes, and a little bit about the dimensional analysis learnt in high school has key to many such situations on real test, sometimes. So, it's very important to ponder, one more time.

If 100 cm = 1 m,

then 100^2 cm^2 = 1^2 m^2

or 10000 cm^2 = 1 m^2

hence 1 cm^2 = 1/10000 m^2 (here's the unitary method trick)

and hence 200 cm^2 = 200/10000 m^2 =
1/50 m^2 or 0.02 m^2
.
