From the definition of the function,

5* = (1/1)(1/2)(1/3)(1/4)(1/5)
4* = (1/1)(1/2)(1/3)(1/4)

so, dividing 5* by 4*, all the fractions in the numerator cancel out with equal fractions in the denominator except for 1/5.
