Machine X and Y works together at different rates and made 3000 bolts in 2hrs. X will work at the same rate and Y will work half rate, they took 3 hrs to make 3000 bolt. How many bolts can X alone make in 1hr?

If x alone works, then x's rate is 1/x
If y alone works, then y's rate is 1/y

For the first case, 1/x + 1/y = 1/2 ------------- A

For the second case, Y will work half the rate.
So 1/x + 1/2y = 1/3 ---------------------- B

Solving A and B, x = 6

X takes 6 hours to make 3000 bolts.
So x makes 500 bolts in 1 hour..

Hence 500 is the answer.

What is the oA ?

Should be 500

My eqns were
x+y = 1500
2x+y=2000

y=1000 x=500

y works 2 hours make 2000 bolts
x works 2 hours makes 1000 bolts

Combined they work they produce 3000 bolts which is a given fact.

I am also for 500

equations are
2x+2y = 3000

3x + 3y/2 = 3000
