The first go I had at it in 06 was after 2 weeks of VERY laid back studying. I was already accepted into my Masters program, so it was really just a formality.
For my recent test, I read over an old GMAT practice book in our school library, bought a box of the flash cards that I probably went through a total of 3 times. I can't say I really hit the books after reading some posts in the forum, but I'm quite familiar with the structure of the test now.
I have my PhD programs shortlisted (mix of US & Int'l), and the low end of them won't accept less than 650. I'm shooting for a 700+ (who isn't...?, haha), and I have a strong CV other than that.
Deadlines for my applications start rolling in around in January. I'll also be traveling for the next 2mo through India, but I'll be held over at a school I'm volunteering at for a good amount of time (great time to get some studying done).
I need to create a 3mo study plan that is both reasonably attainable, and prepares me to take the exam again at the beginning of October (so I have a safety net of time to take it again if need be). Studying while I'm traveling is not a problem, I travel alot, and I'm used to doing work as I go. I'll be moving around though, so weight is a big issue. I can't be carrying around tons of hardcopy GMAT materials, so most everything I will have to be using will have to be in electronic form on my laptop, or flashcard based (i.e. small).
I'm hoarding old exams in electronic form, and I've got the OG12, but I'm a bit hesitant when choosing the "pay" resources. A teachers budget is always tight, and buying up everything I see seems pointless. I want what give me the most bang for my buck.
Any suggestions you have about materials I should use, or time allotment to for the 3 mos until the test, would be greatly appreciated.
