Since y^2>0, if y<>0, we can divide the equation y<y^2 by y^2 without changing the < sign:
1/y<1 (D)

I think the best way is to take the elimination approach. It is know that Y < Y^2 for all values except for -1 to 1. So keeping this assumption

we can eliminate all the 4 unwanted choices zeroing on the right choice.
