66 sightseers in a jamboree

by sanju09 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 2:31 am
:?:

Of the 66 sightseers in a certain jamboree, at most 6 sightseers have their birthdays in any one given month. Does at least one sightseer in the jamboree have a birthday in June?

(1) More of the sightseers in the jamboree have their birthday in October than in November.

(2) Five of the sightseers in the jamboree have their birthday in November.

What is your answer links? IMO and OA were same with me.

This is a deciphered problem taken from the OG, 11th edition.

IMO D

If we consider that no one is having B'day in june then

11* 6 (atmost) = 66 jamborress.

So it is very much possible that noone has a B'day in the Month of June

1. Oct > Nov (no of B'day)

if there are 6 b'days in oct then there would be 'atmost' 5 b'days in NOV.

there fore in month of June there must be 'atleast' 1 b'day

2. same as above
