A,B and C are talking about a contrast but then there is no need to show a contrast. The first sentence says small museums are devoted to history or ethnic groups.
The second sentence says some museums are open for exploration during summer weekends.
The second sentence is not saying the opposite of the first so i guess there is no need to show a contrast.
That leaves option D and E

E has a modifier problem. It seems dozens is devoted and not the museums.
So that leaves option D

I think its A
It draws a comparison between kinds of museums (i.e. the one's that are devoted to local history or ethnic groups v/s the ones that are not)
Also, I think "either or" is correctly used in A to draw the comparison and "although" contrasts it from other kind of museums.

Whats the OA?

IMO D.
It is the only sentence which is adding something into it, although and but show the contrast b.w 2 kind of museum, actually there is no contrast. Its the info which has been added. So ABC out.
E - wrong also coz it compares the museum and devotion seems to be related to both kind of museum which is not the case.
So D.

A for me too

because the use of or in other options shows as if both type of museums are same...
