Thanks Marty- I tried another mock today- GMATPrep and scored 680[Q49, V34]
Again, I got 17 questions wrong in Quant, and am really puzzled about the 680.

I have posted some questions on the PS and DS forums, please will it be possible to help with those..?

I will keep you posted on my GMAT score, D-day this Saturday.. Looks like I might be heading for a re-take :(

Looks as if you are jamming on quant.

Maybe you can get some insight into how to score higher on verbal by going over the questions you didn't get and seeing how you could have gotten them. I bet with the right mindset you could score significantly higher on verbal.

And do that meditation that David recommended. That could help a lot.

Hi Marty,

Gave the GMAT today, 680[Q49,V34]-Same as the mock :(

I need a strategy to get past V34 in Verbal. I will need to re-take.
Can I write to you on your hotmail id.

Please confirm.

Regards,
Mallika

Sure go ahead. That's why I post the email address.

That quant score is pretty cool.

As far as I am concerned SC is the toughest part of verbal So if you are getting all of those right, I guess you can score well above V40 without too much trouble.

Your quant score indicates that you have the analytical skills to rock CR and RC, and your SC success confirms that you have the language skills.

You just have some block or some misconception about what it takes to rock verbal. Once you change a couple of things, likely your score will soar. Looking for 99th percentile out of you.

Hi,
3 months is enough time that can easily fetch you a 700+ score provided you take help from some expert, study from the right material, utilize your time well and work hard on your weaker areas. You can start by first give an online practice mock test at the following link https://www.manyagroup.com/free-gmat-practice-test
You can then take help from any Manya Abroad- The Princeton Review's center that is near your house and get in touch with our faculty.

Wishing you all the best...!

Hi Rich, Marty,

How much time will it take to go through all the Manhattan guides thoroughly and simultaneously solving questions from OG main book for each chapter. Kindly advise do i need any other resources apart from the mock tests to supplement my preparation? I have also heard a lot about the Magoosh online course. Do you recommend that apart from the above study materials??

I am not sure how many hours, weeks, or months you personally will need to achieve your goal by using those material.

Here is a syllabus from a Manhattan 10 week course. Maybe you can get some idea from that.

https://www.scribd.com/doc/47467539/Syll ... -15#scribd

Any quality online resources would probably be helpful. I am not all that familiar with Magoosh, though I have seem some good questions from their site, along with some questions that could have been better, as I guess is pretty much the case with any test prep company.

Just remember though, that rocking the GMAT is not about getting through books. It's about learning to play a game. You might get good at that game in a month or two, or you could spend six months doing questions in books and not really learn how to play the game. You have to have the right conception of what you are up to in order to rock this thing.

Totally agree!! Only need to beat exhaustion at the end of the game and not give up on the RC questions as they get tougher..

Hello everyone,

I am new here. I have bought OG Gmat 2016 on 15 Dec and Princetone review on same Day. Just ordered MGMAT which I will receive in next week. I don't work anywhere currently. I am preparing only for MBA till June 2016.

My test date is 23 march and target score is 650 or more. (I have 11 years experience in well engg in petroleum sector. two UNIS reviewed my cv and gave me a primary go ahead for application.)

I started studying. My mock test was 400 with quant 23 and verbal 23. Same improvement required on both sides. I guess a long way to go.

Now my plan is as follows
Next 3 weeks math study Till 1 Feb.
One math mock test.
Record failures.
Then from 2 Feb to 21-24 Feb verbal.
Verbal mock test.
Record failure.
(During verbal prep do some math everyday)

not sure what to plan from 1 march to 22 march.

Can someone help.

Regards,
Narendra

Hi Narendra.Bande,

Since you're just starting out, you might want to post your message in your own unique post (instead of just posting in this thread).

With your score goal, you'll need to improve 250+ points over your baseline score - this will require some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies before they hit their 'peak' scores, so you might end up needing more time than you've allotted. You would also likely benefit from enrolling in a GMAT Course of some type (either Guided Self-Study or instructor-led).

1) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
2) Do you know the application deadlines for those Schools?
