Is this question complete?
If yes, then:
Stmt 1: x > y ;
Take x =2, y = 1, x+2y = 4
Take x= 8, y = 4, x+2y = 16
Not sufficient
Stmt 2: x, y is greater than 4 ( I am assuming that both are greater than 4, please let me know if it is otherwise)
Take x =5, y = 5, x+2y = 15
Take x = 6, y = 5, x+2y = 16
Not sufficient
Taking both together:
Take x = 6, y = 5, x+2y = 16
Take x =10, y = 5, x+2y = 20
Not sufficient.
Hence the answer is (E).

I think I did not understand statement 2. "X, Y is greater than 4"does not make any sense to me, hence I assumed that both x and y are greater than 4.
Any idea what is the meaning of statement 2?
