The art of Michelangelo, the inventions of Edison, and Shakespeare's plays all represent great achievements in human history.

A)The art of Michelangelo, the inventions of Edison, and Shakespeare's plays all represent great achievements in human history.

B)Michelangelo, Edison, and Shakespeare all represent great achievements in human history.

C)All great achievements in human history are represented by the art of Michelangelo, the inventions of Edison, and the plays of Shakespeare.

D)The art of Michelangelo, the inventions of Edison, and the plays of Shakespeare all represent great achievements in human history.

E)Michelangelo's art, Edison's inventions, and Shakespeare's plays represent all great achievements in human history.

I can easily eliminate option A,B, and C because of parallelism .

I want to know that option E uses a correct parallel structure but why option D then.

Please advise.

E)Michelangelo's art, Edison's inventions, and Shakespeare's plays represent all great achievements in human history.

E has a meaning issue. It makes it sound as though beyond these three categories, there have been no other great achievements in human history. (Or that these other great achievements are somehow represented by the work of Michelangelo, Edison, and Shakespeare.) A controversial assertion, indeed.

E is: Michelangelo's art, Edison's inventions, and Shakespeare's plays represent all great achievements in human history.

So, the meaning that is coming out is "all great achievements in human history". This seems to suggest that all the great achievements in human history are represented by just 3 entities: Michelangelo's art, Edison's inventions, and Shakespeare's plays.

This meaning is obviuosly quite weird.
