Timing

by jennysbelly » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:07 am
Hi there --
I'm taking the GMAT next Monday, 11/2. I've taken 2 practice tests (Kaplan) in the past week -- I got a 670 on one and a 640 on the other. The median score for my school of choice is a 640.

I seem to have the timing down on the Quant -- I finish with less than 5 minutes left, but on the Verbal I consistently have over 30 minutes left. I don't know if it is effecting my score negatively, but even when I try to slow down, I have time left. Should I be trying to force it to drag it out -- or should I just go with it?

Thanks,
Jenny

Have you tried taking the official GMATPrep test from MBA.com and see how your timings work out in those tests? They probably give you a better prediction of what is going on? Looks like you are rushing a little bit on the verbal part. Have you tried analyzing what your weaker sections are (RC vs SC vs CR) ?

No, I haven't taken the GMAT Prep tests. I plan to take one this week. I only have a Mac at home, so taking those are a bit challenging.

On the test I took yesterday, I was strongest on SC, and equal on RC and CR.

My weaknesses on Quant are much clearer.
