so this is kind of a silly question... but how much scratch paper are we allowed on the test? can we bring blank paper or do they provide it? I write large and as i am practicing i am find that i go through quite a bit of paper. I will be taking the test for the first time in a few weeks.

You can request another writing pad if you need one, too, so you won't run out of space! I hear that it's helpful to practice with similar pens and pads so that you feel comfortable with it, too.

Just make sure that you don't use more than 5 pages front and back for any one section and you should be ok because as stated above, you can get replacement pads. Thank you so much for the replies! That helps alot! Does anyone know where i could find something similar to the scratch paper and pens they provide? As krazykarl suggested, i think it could be helpful to practice a little with it to be as comfortable as possible.
Manhattan GMAT provides a scratch pad (a.k.a simulation booklet) and pens on sale - very similar to actual GMAT kit.

I have found that it is very useful for students to practice with the laminated sheets and pen. Very different from scratch paper.
At Veritas Prep we supply each student with a booklet and pen very similar to that on test day. These materials are also for sale individually at our site.
Oh and here is a bonus tip - just don't forget where you got it from - Use some kind of a book stand, like one designed to hold a cookbook, just make sure it holds the book upright instead of laying flat on the desk. On test day, the computer screen is, of course, vertical and what you are writing on is horizontal. This is very different from working with a book open on the table. And of course, you can't write on the screen on test day, so do not write in your Official GMAT 12th edition - and hey, that way you can resell it!
