On planet Simplon, each year has 12 months, each of which consists of exactly 30 days. If Simplon experiences a political scandal every 2/3 of a year, an environmental crisis every 1/6 of a year, and a terrible movie opening every 1/36 of a year, then what is the ratio of the number of political scandals to the number of environmental crises to the number of terrible movie openings experienced over a five year period on Simplon? (Assume that all three events happen 2/3, 1/6, and 1/36 of a year after the beginning of the first year, and recur at their respective rates after that.)
24 : 4 : 1
1 : 4 : 24
4 : 15 : 90
1 : 6 : 36
3 : 10 : 72
any short cut

The ratio of such events in any period of time will remain the same.
Hence, the ratio of the number of events in 5 year period or 5 motnhs period will be the same as the ratio of the number of events in 1 year period.
A political scandal happens every 2/3 of a year ---> every 2*12/3 = 8 months
A environmental crisis happens every 1/6 of a year ---> every 12/6 = 2 months
So in a 8 months period, there are 1 political scandal and 4 environmental crises.
Hence, in any period of time, there will be 4 environmental crises for 1 political scandal.
So, the ratios of number of political scandals and number of environmental crises muct be 1:4
Only option B works.
The correct answer is B.

but will simplon not see 7 political scandal @ every 240 days, given that a scandal hits every 2/3 of a year ?
if the next year starts immediately after a political scandal ( recurrence at their respective rates ) the intervals would be 240, 480, 720, 960, 1200, 1440 and 1680.
