by pavithra » Thu Oct 15, 2009 9:33 pm
Mass of 1 cubic meter of a substance is 800 kilograms under certain conditions. What is the volume in cubic centimetres of 1 gram of this substance under the same conditions. ( 1kilogram = 1000 grams; 1 cubic meter = 1,000,000 cubic centimetres)

Answer: 1.25

It'd be great help if someone can explain the solution.

Thanks,

pretty Straight forward

Since the answer is required for cm^3 and Grams convert the given quantities to cm and grams based on the conversion factors given.

1m^3 = 1000000 cm^3
1kg = 1000g
Hence,800kg = 800 * 1000 g

Now,

Given,

1000000 cm^3 --> 800 * 1000 g
? --> 1g

Hence required quantity = 1000000/800000 = 10/8 = 1.25

SImple unitary method to be applied.
