Although no proof yet exists of electromagnetic fields generated by
household appliances posing any health threat, mounting scientific evidence
has convinced many experts that there is cause for concern.
A. of electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances posing any health
threat
B. of electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances that pose any
threat to health
C. that electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances pose any threat
to health
D. that poses any threat to health from electromagnetic fields generated by
household appliances
E. for any health threat posed by electromagnetic fields generated by household
appliances

My question is in case of C if it would have read like this:

that electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances that pose any threat
to health----> In this case that pose will become the modifier and would refer to household appliances instead of refereing to EM fields.....

Does it make sense guys?

Between i think the correct answer for this one is A.....

IMO C should be the answer the intended meaning is clear in option C only that pose as suggested by you imo will change the intended meaning

so that means if I use that pose in C then pose would refer to the household appliance rather than EM fields....

Am I right?

But what is the problem with A I think A should be the correct one for sure....Can you please throw some light on this one

in A posing is a participle form of verb and modifies the noun it is attached (-ing when used without comma); and therefore says that the appliances pose threats to health. Thus it changes the intended meaning

B. of electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances that pose any threat to health (subject of 'pose'...fields or appliances...not sure+'any threat' sud be as close as possible to exists)

C. that electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances pose any threat to health (changes meaning+'any threat' sud be as close as possible to exists)

D. that poses any threat to health from electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances
(no clear subject for 'poses' + proof cann be its subj)

E. for any health threat posed by electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances

B. of electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances that pose any threat to health (pose can come for both fields and appliances => its ambiguous)

C. that electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances pose any threat to health (if we add 'that' before pose here..situation will like B ie making subject of 'pose' ambiguous; In C, ideally 'fields' sud be the subject 'pose'...but since its closer to 'appliances' making it t subject of 'pose')

I am not very sure. Lets discuss & ask for expert help.

in C pose is the verb for EMF and not for appliances , since the later is in a prepositional phrase BY
E ,however imo is wrong because the non under lined part is active mood and to llel it we need to have the underlined part in active mood

I agree: appliaces are part of prep phrase so cann be subject. In that case subject of 'pose' for both B & C are EMF...is my understanding correct? Pls suggest


Can we select an option just bcoz its in active/passive + llel with nonunderline part. Basically we are discussing:

threat posed by EMF (choice E) or EMF pose threat (C) - which one to prefer.

For me both are correct => I cann make my decision just on this ....so looked for alternate error. 'any threat' sud be as close as possible to exists...is thr in E.
