You have missed "publication".

Mark Twain written a letter in year X
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published in year X.

Help me out wid noder option.

Option A is

A letter by Mark Twain, written in the same year as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn were published,

Had it been:

A letter by Mark Twain, written in the same year as that of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn ,

will it be the correct answer?
Nope

your option would mean the year the adventure of huckleberry finn was written.. whereas in original sentence it means the year it was published !

I think Choice B is incorrect cause "AS" is used to compare clauses.so in B second clause "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, reveals that Twain provided financial assistance to one of the first Black students at Yale Law School" does not make sense and also "A letter by Mark Twain, written in the same year of publication" means letter was published and written in same year. This is not the intended meaning.

I hope this will clear doubt about choice B if i have analyzed right.
