(B) who had been thrust into a world that was dominated by more wealthy, educated, and polished people than him -- more wealthy -- mistake

(C) who had been thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and people more polished than he was --people more polished --mistake

(D) thrust into a world dominated by more wealthy, educated, and polished people than him -- who required

(E) thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than he --who required

is this superlative construction correct-
wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people ?

what decides b.w he and him?

HE vs HIM?

Whenever we have THAN or AS in the sentence always make a point that you put the subject list of pronoun (i.e. I, HE, SHE, WE) we simply can not put object list of pronoun (i.e ME, HIM, HER, US) as there is an implied verb is present in the sentence contruction.

Still confused what I am talking about then you can spare few minutes on following links https://aliscot.com/bigdog/pronouns.htm

Trust me the topics explained in this link is simply awesoma and have cleared so many things for me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

imo: E

'who' is not required.

and the superlative construction is indeed correct. wealthier, better educated and more polished.

Read the blog on pronouns that was mentioned in the post. Still to really convinced about the choice. Here is my doubt.

The problem Statement: "The man was always aware, sometimes proudly and sometimes resentfully, that he was a small-town Midwesterner who was thrust into a world that was dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than him."

Now I can segregate the clauses joined by than.
The clause in the left is in passive voice. Hence to keep the parallelism, the voice of the clause after 'than' should pe passive as well. In passive voice, the object form of a pronoun is used[e.g The job is done by him.]. Hence A seems to be the correct choice.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A B and C are wrong because "who" isn't placed next to the noun it's modifying. That leaves a choice between D and E. D is wrong because it uses comparative adjectives, which can only be used when you are comparing exactly two things. Therefore, choice E is the best choice.

All the options that have "him" can be eliminated. Reason is.........see the sentence

You are better, more hard working, and more dedicated than he (is is optional here)...correct
You are better, more hard working, and more dedicated than him...........wrong comparison.

Now, left with C and E.

In E both the past participle "thrust " and "dominated" correctly modify their respective nouns and make the sentence concise and clear.

IMO : E

A, B, C : can be discarded because of 'who'

between D and E

'than he' is looking better than 'then him'
