The recent explosion of the nuclear plant was not the threat to the local farms as it was to the neighboring factories.

(A) as it was to the neighboring factories
(B) that it was to the neighboring factories
(C) that it were to the neighboring factories
(D) as it had been to the neighboring factories
(E) that it had been to the neighboring factories

guys plz help

IMO A -

A) Correct
B)That it was .... --> doesnt make that kind of comparision like A does
C)Were - not correct
D)Had been - not correct
E)Had been - not correct

please post the OA and the source of problem.

In opinion, the question is weird and all options are incorrect. First of all "the threat" sounds incorrect. It must be "a threat"..

A - statement should have been "...was not as much a threat to the local farms as it was...." to make this option correct
B - doesn't create the intended comparison
C - were is incorrect
D - had been is incorrect
E - same as D

Can you plz post the source of this question??

Just want to make sure that it is from an authentic source before everyone starts racking their brains on this one!

Totally agree. Terrible question. We should be wary of questions which are ungrammatical in their non underlined part.
