I think amount to and amounts to depends upon the subject of the sentence.

Subject Verb agreement required accordingly.

the difference between "amount to" and "amounts to"-It depends whether the subject is singular or plural.
For singular-we will use "amounts to"
For plural -we will use "amount to"

No difference in meaning though.

Amount of money, correct usage.
Amounts of money does not sound correct to me. for example the numbers of is always wrong on GMAT.

Your purchase amounts to 300USD and the amount to be paid is 300USD.

"amounts to" is used for singular , "amount to" is used for plural

also money being taken as a single entity rather a common noun so amount of money is correct....amounts of money is never used..
