A is correct in meaning but is wordy. Ignore it.
B has ambiguous use of IT
C is straightforward in its meaning and hence I pick it.
D Meaning is wrong...."Drop" was the cause...not the effect.
E: THEY??? no cear refernce being made

This is a good example of the "best answer" principle : both A and C are correct in meaning and grammar, but C is the best answer because it far more concise.

The use of 'it' sends a bad signal that is not advisable.Thus, incorrect option

Option C.
this option has a unique construction, simple and direct.This is definitely the right answer.
'dropping' follows in parallel with 'reverting'

Option D.
does not follow parallelism. 'dropped' does not follow with 'reverting'

Option E.
'they'? No No No this makes the option incorrect.And does not deserve consideration.
