I am confused between C and D. I know D uses the passive form...he was greeted by... but somehow I can't neglect that and choose C.
OA please..need to know asap :-)

OA is C

As C is the active voice, which is usually preferred in GMAT

Every option has a pronoun error. None of them have a none for "he" and "him" to refer to.

In C, the OA, the opening phrase modifies "commander-in-chief."

I still don't see who "he" and "him" refers to, even in option C. To me it sounds like the commander-in-chief greeted himself. Could someone please explain?
