Tiny quantities of more than thirty rare gases, most of them industrial by-products, threaten to warm the Earth’s atmosphere even more rapidly than carbon dioxide during the next fifty years.

'threaten to ' is needed ...so that rules out C, D and E. B/w A and B A goes out coz comparison is done b/w carbn dioxide and somthing which other gases will do....In B we have the correct comparison carbondioxide wil

IMO ans is B

The answer is A. Jangojess, you're right that you can eliminate every answer other than A and B right off, but B is grammatically incorrect because of the dangling participle will at the end. That's never going to be correct.

In the case of comparisons with "than", only the first term compared needs the participle. Ex.

Frank will be more competent than Peter.

The will is silently there, and not grammatically correct to leave at the end of the sentence.[/i]

not noun but their actions r compared. Over the next 50 years is better than during 50 years

Neeraj, I changed my answer. You're right about over vs. during, although dangling participles are almost never right. In this case though, B is probably the best choice.

What is the OA??Put us out of our misery here!

Option a
This is the correct option as it can be chosen over every other options B-E.
The comparison between the two gases(Carbon dioxide and the tiny quantities of rare gases) should be placed side by side to show their correlation and comparison.

Option B. This option looks correct but it has some errors which ruled it out of the race.
Firstly, the 'more rapidly than' should go like that not 'more rapidly over the next fifty years than' there's too much gap in between
Secondly, the use of 'will' at the end of the statement is pf mo use.Rather, it makes it more complicated than complimenting.
