IS it wrong to use back to back modifiers ..for instance here we use :-To cross gypsy
and in attempting to modify a french scientist


To cross gypsy moths with adult silkworms, in attempting the development of a
strong strain of silk-producing insects, a French scientist in 1869 imported the
gypsy moth into Massachusetts from Europe.

it is usually better to avoid back to back modifiers. Using back to back modifiers can make the sentence ambiguous, making it difficult to identify the subject
