Q. The mistakes children make in learning to speak tell linguists more about how they learn language than the correct forms they use.
(A) how they learn language than
(B) how one learns language than
(C) how children learn language than do
(D) learning language than
(E) their language learning than do

OA is [spoiler](C)[/spoiler]. Why not [spoiler](A)[/spoiler]?

Yes I also agree with Satish, it is having no proper referent.
By reading it in one go, I also chose A(because it sounds good to ears)

But in GMAT you cannot rely on your ears every time!!

here , an auxiliary verb is required -DO.... to make it clear that mistakes are compared with correct forms.

So down to E and C.

Initially i thought E is more concise.

But one of explanations refuting E is that, "their" doesnt have a referrent.

Doesnt it really ?? :O when "they" in the later part of the sentence does ???

Well Lets see the complete sentence with E option fitting the underline part.

Q. The mistakes children make in learning to speak tell linguists more about (E) their language learning than do the correct forms they use.
We are not sure "their" refers to Children or Linguists.

So C removes this ambiguity.
