How to use Manhattan SC guide

by Yossarian » Thu Mar 18, 2010 5:15 am
Hi Everyone,

I am a beginner to the forum and have kickstarted my preparation with SC.

I've started to read MGMAT SC guide and was wondering how to use it. Shall I go through the book once before starting to solve OG questions (using the matrix at the end of each chapter) or shall I solve them in tandem.

Please help with your experience.

Cheers

I found MGMAT SC to be readable not too technical. Which is imp.
Because too much of explanation in the tone of a grammer teacher gets you nowhere.
Also GMAT tests your knowledge in specific areas not grammer in totality.
Read the book quickly once highlighting the imp points and after that as you go about solving OG, you will have to repeatedly refer back to MGMAT SC to check the concepts.
I am sharing my experience of making a start. Beyond this, the process to consolidate the gains you have made through this book is something I would like others to comment on this thread.

This is awesome book for SC. I am going through the same third time because of some gap in my prep. After going through this book my SC result is awesome. Yesterday I solved one princeton test and out of 15 I missed only 1 SC question.

How to go through this book. - go through each and every point, line to line and word to word. do not miss any chapter. I understand it is bit difficult to understand everything in one go. At the end of every chapter you will see the questions from OG, go through those questions. Read the explaination of every option in OG. Start solving 1000 SC. Whichever topic you feel difficult, refer book again for the same topic.

You have to keep on going through the book again and again.
