For what value of k will the two equations 2 x + 4 = 4 (x - 2) and -x + k = 2 x - 1 have the same solution?
(A) 20
(B) 17
(C) 6

2 x + 4 = 4 (x - 2)
x + 2 = 2x -4
x = 6

-x + k = 2 x - 1
3x = k+1
k = 18-1
k = 17

2 x + 4 = 4 (x - 2)
12=2x
x=6

using this in -x + k = 2 x - 1
=k=3x-1
k=17
