Re: A certain investment earned a fixed rate of 4 percent
There is no need to solve, Just form the eqns and see if you they are solvable. 1. We know that P at beginning of second year is x(some dollars). -- Amount at the end of 1st year = P + P(rate(4%) *time(1year)) ---- Through this we know we can get first years interest.. and also if we solve the same ...

Re: Test Code 52, Section 6, Question 10
Average = sum of terms / # of terms
= (n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) + (n + 4) + (n+ 8)) / 5
= (5n + 15)/5
= n + 3
We want to know by how much the mean is greater than the median, so:
mean - median = (n + 3) - (n + 2) = 1... choose (B).

Re: For the positive integers a, b (OG16)
2^k ||72 means 2^k is a divisor of 72, but 2^(k+1) is not a divisor of 72
72 = 2^3*3^2
The maximum powers of 2 in 72 = 3
Hence 2^3 is a divisor of 72 and 2^4 is not a divisor of 72
k = 3

Re: Ratios & Revenue (OG Quant Review #115)
nitially $3m royalty from $20m sales, So $ 1m sales = $3/20
Next, $9m royalty from $108m sales, So $ 1m sales = $9/108
% Decrease = Change/Original * 100
% Decrease = (3/20 - 9/108)/ (3/20) * 100 = approx 45 %

1. black holes is plural, hence we need a plural verb - exist.
Eliminate D and E
2. Comparison. The mass of the black hole needs to be compared to the mass of the galaxy

Re: The largest of all the planets
Clearly A,B,E are out because of wrong modifier placement and incorrect Meaning.
Between C & D C is wrong because there is no verb for the first clause.
D is very well written with correct idiomatic usage "as much as"

The contrast is best explained in choice D which gives a reason to low algae populations. Extrem drought may for shorter durations cause the algae to malnourish and die
