From the information you’ve provided, I assume that your interests in entrepreneurship and private equity implies the industries you want to work in future. PE is hard to get into if you don’t have the requisite Pre-MBA background such as workin...

International MBA Applicants Must Look at This Hiring Data

Although this can happen to anyone, the chances of international students facing this are generally higher (relative to those with work authoriz...

Hi Tin, There aren’t really good international options similar to Schulich. Most you’ll find are Indian schools offering few terms outside India. Also, if you’re considering Schulich, enquire if the cost is substantially different between India and Canada campuses. You’ll save some on living...

Hi Salaj, You’ve few mountains (IT, 2.4) to climb. And # of applications in most Canadian schools went up this year, making it more competitive to get in than in previous years. Your best bet is to score high on GMAT (at least 700), apply early in schools which have rolling admissions, and submit ...

Hi estellewho, 600 is low. GMAT score being a component of most MBA rankings, schools would be wary to consider an applicant with a score much lower than their median score unless the applicant brings something exceptional to the table usually in the form of professional experience. In my opinion, y...

Hi kaaviar, Recruitment generally tends to be regional: companies on West coast will recruit more at the schools on West coast and so on. However, companies which recruit MBAs in large numbers (consulting, finance, and some tech firms) do transcend regional boundaries. There would be few MBA recruit...

To add, your hedge fund background will help and a higher score too will. As far as extracurricular activities are concerned, you don't need lot of them. Depth in one is far more important than a smattering of 3-4. It could even come from your professional experience: organizing non-professional eve...

Yes. Given your target schools, I would suggest you retake the test, and apply in R1 next year.

Hi islandboi, Your GMAT score is substantially lower than the average GMAT score of your target schools, and can hurt your chances. If you’ve something solid (faster than usual career growth, some exceptional outcomes etc.) in your professional career, you may have a shot. But, in general, being i...

Agree. Applicants take tests at different times of the year depending on their individual constraints, which adcoms understand. So, taking test a month or so before the deadline isn’t going to raise any questions on your commitment to pursue an MBA. Either way – reinstating or not reinstating - ...

Hi atticus936, Given the middle 80% range of top schools, your score would fall somewhere in bottom 5-10% at these schools, which makes your case challenging. Nonetheless (given few compensatory factors you’ve mentioned), I would say you’re in a low-probability category, and not fantasy-land pro...

I think you should retake the test to improve your odds. Applications take lot of time, and you would ideally want to spend this time knowing that your test score won't pull down your odds.
