(B) The Daily Clarion usually devotes more of its pages to out-of-town news than does the Daily Bugle. - it is a strong contender. but just becuase it publishes out of town news, it doesnt mean that it doesnot care about people of gotham.sarthak wrote:That's exactly my doubt ... Can anyone explain please ?
(D) The editor-in-chief and all the other members of the editorial staff of the Daily Bugle have lived and worked in Gotham City for ten years or more. - this lends more clarity. The editorial staff are people of gotham themselves. you wouldn't expect people of one city to act against its own people. would you ?
very tricky question though...

we need to check on what basis the author is making his conclusion.
The conclusion the author makes is Read the Daily Clarion.
Ask the question 'Why' to the conclusion and you arrive at the premise.
Premise- Daily Bugle is owned by out of town syndicate.
The only possible assumption you can make is Daily Clarion is owned by local town people.
Now B talks about coverage of out of town news, which is not the basis for the author's conclusion. The author has not included coverage of news as a part of premise to arrive at his conclusion. This is a perfect trap answer choice coz it mimicks the topic of the stimulus perfectly but goes off base in making the assumption.
In D, it addresses the issue raised in the premise by mentioning that though the Daily Bugle is owned by out of town syndicate, people employed in the newspaper company are residents of the town and hence we cannot conclude that the newpaper cares less about the people of the city.
Hope this helps!
Nice, question- what is the source?

Though 40% of readers live outside the city limit,ru2008 wrote:Why is C wrong?
1. 60% of people live in city
2. outside city limit doesn't mean, they are part of different city
And also we are not talking about whether out of town readers are benefited.
We just need to worry about how many of the City's readers get know about their city's news.
HTH. Thanks.
